This session will help attendees understand CF by describing how genes are translated into proteins. Speakers will explain how different types of CFTR gene variants (also known as mutations) disrupt the function of the CF protein (also called CFTR). Speakers will relate this process to CF diagnosis and treatment in 2020 to broaden understanding about where we are and where we need to be. Key terms will be defined, with the goal of helping attendees engage medical teams, family, and friends about CF genetics.
