Bio

Dr. Kelly is a professor of pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania, and has long-standing clinical and research interests in endocrine co-morbidities arising in youth with chronic health conditions. For the past 15 years, she has led a clinic specifically for the care of youth and young adults with CF and diabetes or other endocrine co-morbidities. Her multi-disciplinary, collaborative research in CF aims to understand the mechanisms underlying insulin secretion defects, which includes studies of the evolution of glucose intolerance and islet defects in CF, and testing the impact of therapies upon early phase insulin secretion. Dr. Kelly is co-principal investigator (with Dr. Michael Stalvey) for the CF Foundation PROMISE endocrine sub-study, which aims to examine the impact of CFTR modulator therapy upon glucose tolerance, as well as bone and body composition outcomes. As a mentor for the CF Foundation-funded Envision program, whose mission is to train pediatric and adult endocrinologists in the care of diabetes and other endocrine co-morbidities that arise in CF, Dr. Kelly is committed to advancing clinical care for people with CF and research into the disease.
