Bio

Virginia A. Stallings, MD, is professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and director of the Nutrition Center and the Jean A. Cortner Endowed Chair in Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Her research interests include pediatric clinical nutrition, evaluation of nutritional status, dietary intake and energy expenditure, and nutrition-related chronic disease. Much of her clinical care, research, and advocacy are with infants, children, and young adults living with cystic fibrosis. She has served on many Cystic Fibrosis Foundation nutrition care committees and on National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committees related to food allergies, federal school lunch and breakfast programs, the WIC program, and child and adult daycare programs. Dr. Stallings is board certified in pediatrics and clinical nutrition. Dr. Stallings earned a BS in Nutrition and Foods from Auburn University, an MS in human nutrition and biochemistry from Cornell University, and an MD from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and completed her other medical training at the University of Virginia and Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
