Bio

Terri Laguna, MD, MSCS is board-certified in pediatric pulmonology and is an associate professor of pediatrics with tenure at the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She received her BS in molecular and cellular biology from the University of New Mexico, her MD from University of California, San Francisco, and completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. She completed her pediatric pulmonology fellowship at the University of Colorado, where she also received a master’s degree in clinical science. In addition to serving as division head of Lurie Children’s Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, Dr. Laguna is director of the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center of Excellence and associate director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center. She is also a fierce advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives locally and nationally. Dr. Laguna has built a clinical and translational research career in early lung disease in cystic fibrosis. Her current NIH RO1 and CF Foundation grant-funded work focuses on early infections in the CF airway and the role of anaerobic communities in the development of lung disease. She is a member of multiple CF Foundation's national scientific and mentorship committees and was invited to serve as co-chair of the CF Foundation Research Initiative Grant Review Committee. She also serves on a NIH Grant Study Section. Dr. Laguna has been recognized as an outstanding faculty educator by pediatric residents four times, is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research, and a sought-out mentor.
