Realities of Insurance, Coverage, and Financial Challenges: Getting the Conversation Out of Our Heads and Into the Open
Description

This session is for people who want guidance and support to tackle challenges related to the cost of CF care, insurance coverage, and financial challenges – such as affording food, rent, or utilities – outside of the treatment regimen. Speakers, including a senior research associate at The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and a Compass case manager, will share research from the 2019 CF Foundation’s Health Insurance Study as well as data from CF Foundation’’s Compass case management program on barriers to high-quality care and overall wellness, and what the Foundation is doing to reduce these barriers. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions to discuss the challenges they face. Breakouts will also cover approaches you can take at the individual level to reduce barriers to high-quality care, including working with your care team, since they can be some of your strongest advocates for getting the support you need.
