Name
New Ways to Fight Old Dragons: Addressing Infections and Inflammation
Description

For many of us, dealing with recurrent infections and the damaging inflammation they bring is one of the biggest and most important challenges of life with cystic fibrosis. This session will begin with an update on the Infection Research initiative (IRI) and a review of the current anti-infective research portfolio, including a review of the industry drug development pipeline and strategy, highlighting multiple drug therapy modalities and mechanisms of actions. Next, we will take a deep dive into one of those novel therapies and discuss the latest data on phage therapy, an exciting area of research exploring how to turn phages, the natural predators of difficult-to-treat bacteria such as Pseudomonas, into effective therapies. Finally, we will take a look at the opportunities and challenges of developing anti-inflammatory therapies, and discuss new perspectives on results from recent anti-inflammatory clinical trials.
