Bio
Gina Hong is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She received her M.D. at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and then completed her internal medicine residency training and chief medical resident year at the University of Chicago. Her clinical and scientific commitment to cystic fibrosis heightened during her pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, where she also received her master’s degree in health sciences focused on clinical investigation. Dr. Hong has focused her research efforts in the study of fungi and its role and impact on CF lung disease. She is currently a principal investigator in a prospective cohort study at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, incorporating culture-based and culture-independent sequencing testing on CF sputa to determine the relationship between detection of fungi and clinical outcomes.
