Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Miriam Figueira was diagnosed with CF at 13 years old. She is currently a post-doc research associate at the University of North Carolina researching how CFTR modulators affect mucus properties in CF, and exploring other novel therapies, such as inhaled reducing agents, that can be combined to reduce the effect of increased mucus concentration in CF. Miriam has a PhD and master’s degree in physiology and received her undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences. She also spent a year as a visiting student researcher at Stanford University.
