Lindsey is 36 years old and was born in Waterloo, Iowa, where she currently lives. She was diagnosed with CF at 6 weeks old. She has a degree in biology and chemistry, and secondary science education. Her teaching career was put on hold due to end-stage lung disease. Lindsey was ineligible for a lung transplant due to an advanced mycobacterium abscessus infection. After four years of aggressive treatment at the University of Iowa, the infection was eradicated, and she received a double-lung transplant in September 2020. She plans on getting back into the classroom as soon as possible and becoming more involved in the cystic fibrosis and organ donation communities.
