John and his wife, Marion have been married for 53 years. They are retired and live in Rio Rancho, NM. They had 3 kids, 2 with CF. Their oldest child, Ann, died from CF in May 2009, just shy of her 41st birthday. Their middle son, Mike, 48, doesn’t have CF and is not a CF carrier. Our youngest, Tom, 46, has CF. He is on Trikafta and doing very well.
John and Marion have been active with the CFF since 1976. Marion was the NM Chapter Board president for several years and John was on the Board. They have participated in C F fundraisers for many years.
More recently, from 2016 to 2019, John took part in the CFF Teen Advocacy Day with their granddaughter, Katie Aryeh. John, Marion, and Katie attended the CFF VLC in 2019 in person and in 2020 they attended the VLC virtually. John was a facilitator for breakout sessions at FamilyCon 2020.
John continues advocating for CF on Twitter, along with doing local advocacy in NM. The pandemic limited his “out of the home” time in 2020. He is really looking forward to Family Con 2021 and then to joining the CFF team for the next, real, in-person, CFF March on The Hill which will take place, he hopes, in March 2022.
