Bio

Dr. Tom Boat, MD, is currently professor of pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a faculty member of the Pulmonary Medicine Division at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). His career focus has been chronic lung diseases in childhood, including cystic fibrosis and asthma. He currently is Director of Cystic Fibrosis Wellness and Education Learning Laboratory, a program structured to learn how best to enhance wellness, resilience, and quality of life for CF patients and their families. Tom has chaired departments of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina and CCHMC, and served as dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. He also has served as a member of the board of Children, Youth, and Families of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). In that position he has participated in efforts to improve the behavioral health of children through child health care system-based interventions and by promoting more effective behavioral health training for child health professionals, including pediatric residents and subspecialty fellows. His current NASEM role is chair of a Consensus Committee: Fostering Healthy, Mental, Emotional and Behavioral Development Among Children and Youth.
