Drucy Borowitz, MD, is an emeritus professor of clinical pediatrics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University at Buffalo. She was board certified in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition; nonetheless she was chief of pediatric pulmonology for almost 20 years and was the director of the CF Center at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo until 2014. Dr. Borowitz is past chair of the CF Foundation’s Center Committee and has had a leadership role in many of the CF Foundation’s initiatives to improve patient care and advance new treatments. In 2013, she was presented with the Richard C. Talamo Distinguished Clinical Achievement Award by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This award is given to individuals who have spent their careers in the research and care of patients with cystic fibrosis and whose contributions have had considerable influence on the course of the disease. She is the 2015 recipient of the Stockton Kimball Award, bestowed on faculty members at the Jacobs School of Medicine who have achieved worldwide recognition as researchers and have been recognized for significant academic accomplishment and service to the university. In 2016 she joined the CF Foundation and is the Senior Vice President of Community Partnerships. This department helps bring the perspective of people affected by CF into all of the CF Foundation’s activities and provides ways for them to interact in new and meaningful ways.
