Description
Audience: All Connections
Stage: Considering and Pre-transplant - People interested in learning about advanced lung disease and the lung transplant process

Do you feel like you need to have the knowledge of a doctor, social worker, dietitian, financial expert, and more when going through transplant? Attend a presentation with Dr. Joseph Pilewski, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh, to get a better grasp on the pre- and post-transplant process. We know how overwhelming transplant can be with new doctors, medical jargon, medicines, and tests – this session will help you learn the basics. Dr. Pilewski and a post-transplant patient will explain all aspects of transplant and answer your questions. This session will be recorded and available to registrants upon request after the event.
Session Objectives
  1. Understand the progression of CF lung disease and treatment options.
  2. Learn factors that may lead to a transplant recommendation or referral.
  3. Highlight the characteristics that make someone an ideal candidate for transplant and factors that may lead to being “turned down” by a transplant center.
