Dr. Merlo is an adult pulmonologist who has expertise in caring for people with cystic fibrosis and people with advanced lung disease who may require lung transplantation. He has helped care for patients at Johns Hopkins University for over two decades. His research focuses on studying the effect of infection, genetics, and the environment on outcomes in people with cystic fibrosis. He also has a keen interest in the transition process for those people with advanced lung disease who may require lung transplantation, in addition to studying outcomes and predictors of survival after lung transplantation.
