As an adult with CF, you may have heard the terms alternative or complementary medicine used widely in recent years. Slowly, alternative medical therapies are being de-stigmatized., Though Western medicine makes up a significant amount of patient care among people with CF, more research and interest in complementary or alternative medical therapies is helping adults with CF feel more comfortable exploring diverse forms of treatment for a very complicated disease. In this panel you will get to hear stories from adults with CF and health practitioners familiar with CF to gain insight on how others have integrated alternative medicines like herbalism or homeopathy into their CF care.

Session Objectives
  1. Discuss why alternative or holistic medicine might be stigmatized within CF.
  2. Learn about what others have tried and what has worked for them alongside standard CF treatments.
  3. Understand what complementary and alternative medicine practices are and understand the risks and benefits.
  4. Highlight the importance of discussing all treatment options with your CF care team.
